🎯 Level 3 · Termly inspection mock · ~half a day

If Ofsted walked in this term, what would they find?

The owner, a director or the area manager walks every one of the 55 criteria, in inspection order, at one nursery. Rate each, write the action for anything amber or red, then give a provisional judgement for each area and hold the feedback meeting.

🌟 Aim: Exceptional. Strong standard is the floor. Rate each criterion against its strong practice (the ✅ line), and write down the impact on individual children: that is the evidence Exceptional needs. What Exceptional looks like →

3. Provisional judgement, area by area

Safeguarding is met or not met. The other six use Ofsted’s 5-point scale: Exceptional, Strong standard, Expected standard, Needs attention, Urgent improvement. We aim for Exceptional; Strong standard is the floor. Exceptional asks you to tick the four toolkit conditions. Use the counts as a guide, not a formula, and say why in a sentence. Averages never dilute safeguarding.

4. Submit, then the feedback meeting

Every amber and red finding becomes an action on the QA actions tracker, with the owner and dates you wrote. Any red on Safeguarding sends an urgent alert straight away.
