🧭 Behaviour record

For behaviour that challenges — unkind or rude words, swearing, discriminatory words, hurting another child, or when you had to hold or move a child to keep someone safe. Record it from the first time. One record is not a problem; it is how a pattern becomes visible.

Deal with it at the time as you always do. This goes to your manager, who reviews it and decides what happens next — telling parents, a support plan, the Incident Log.

Our non-negotiable core statement

Record what happened, and what the child might have been telling you.

“At JLK, we see behaviour as development.
Children communicate through behaviour, and we guide skills step by step through calm modelling and consistent support.”

🛡️ Not this form if: it involves sexual words, play or knowledge, or anything that makes you worry a child is being harmed. Tell the DSL now, then use Safeguarding: cause for concern. About an adult? Same — DSL in person first.

The child

First name and the first letter of their surname. The policy uses initials; that is enough to know who.

What kind of behaviour

Choose the closest
Who was it directed at?
It was directed at a member of staff. It is still a child’s behaviour, handled the same way — but it can still sting, especially if it was about who you are. Your manager will see that it was directed at staff.

What happened

Facts, not what you think it means. The record is confidential.
